MLB Spring Training Week One

By - J

The first week of the Major League Baseball spring training has just completed and it’s been an interesting one. Looking at the leaders of spring training so far this year, Kansas City Royals and Colorado Rockies we can see a difference. The Royals are undefeated so far in and the Rockies are sitting at a .714 W/L ratio. Of course spring training can’t really tell us how the regular season will go, we can try to forecast what will happen.

Although looking at the 2012 Spring Training compared to the regular season the difference is quite different. In the American League in 2012 our team here at SGL, the Toronto Blue Jays finished first in spring training. However, we ended up finishing 10th overall in the Regular Season, so anything can happen. Here are the spring training standings for the American and National Leagues so far:

Red: World Series Runner Up
Green: World Series Winner

We’re looking forward to seeing the Jays play as they’ve developed quite a team this year. It’s been 10 years since the Jays last won a World Series, so we really want to see Toronto win it. After a 2012 season with crippling injuries to the team, there’s definitely hope for the Jays this season as players like Morrow and Bautista return as well as some new additions Reyes, Johnson, Cabrera and more.  The Jays will definitely be a strong contender in the American League.

Lets just see where things go though; it’s far to early to make any huge predications.

What team are you going for? What do you expect this season? Leave a comment below.
