Recap: UFC 157

By - J

I'll start this off by saying I only watched the co-main event and the main event. UFC's grown to a point where I could care less to watch the prelims and fights that aren't hyped. UFC 157 is the first UFC to feature women. Before we get there lets just recap the co main:

The co main event featured Brazilian Lyoto "the dragon" Machida vs. American Dan Henderson. This was probably the most boring fight I've ever watched. I personally can't stand Machida's style of fighting all this running around it's quite sissy to me to be honest, but to each there own. Both Henderson and Machida came out fighting, there were kicks here and there, couple take downs but nothing really worth yelling at my TV about. Closer to the end of the first round it looked like Machida could've finished but alas no victory. In my opinion Henderson should've won that fight he was on the offensive far more. He also caught Machida in a nice take down in the third round I believe it was. However, UFC judges gave the win to Machida by split decision.

The Main event Rousey vs. Carmouche is a whole other story completely. I wasn't expecting much (call it my stereotype) but DAMN those women came out wanting to scrap and I was completely blown away at the technicality of that fight that I had to take pictures while it was going on.

Rousey came out swinging like a mad woman throwing punches left, right and centre. Carmouche responded by jumping on her back and attempted going for what looked like a standing rear naked choke, at this point I had all the marbles on Carmouche to finish the fight there but BOOM, Rousey swings her off like a ragdoll and proceeds one of the nicest ground and pound's I've ever seen in the UFC. Carmouches face was left bloodshot red, and in the end Rousey managed to get an arm off Carmouche and won by arm bar.

TO SUMMARIZE:

Lyoto Machida wins against Dan Henderson by Split Decision

Ronda Rousey wins against Liz Carmouche by Arm Bar in the 1st Round to retain the Women's Bantam weight title.

What do you guys think about the fight? Are you looking forward to seeing more women fights? I am.

Game of Thrones Season 3

By - J

It’s coming. HBO just unveiled its first true trailer for the upcoming third season installment of Game of Thrones, and all I have to say is WOW. This trailer gave me all sorts of shudders. It's truly a MAN’s show (and some ladies too), its got everything: sex, death, gore, beautiful women and everything else you’d expect. Based on George R. R. Martin’s (yea I know what’s with the two R’s) series, “A Song of Ice and Fire” the TV adaptation of it is amazing.

See the new trailer below. If you haven’t seen season 1 or 2 yet STOP NOW, and go watch it. Believe me it's worth it and if you dont check out this article posted on Huffington Post. Please make sure you're over 18 and this video is also NSFW. If that hasn't changed your mind you are not a man, if it has the show is available on iTunes as well as HBO’s official site. Or if you’re like me you can visit either of these two sites for links: here and here.

The season is set to pick up where Season 2 left off, the amount of storylines that occur in the series is sometimes overwhelming. But here’s a breakdown of what I think are the more important storylines:

WARNING SPOILER ALERT

Intense,  I know. I’m quite excited for this season. Game of Thrones returns on March 31st so get ready.
