We’ve been holding out doing a post on
Chicago just to see how far they could go without a loss in regulation. Today
we weren’t disappointed it was a pressure-riddled game for Chicago. The Avalanche
really put pressure on the Hawks having at times 5 forwards on ice to
really push the Blackhawks. Here’s our period-by-period breakdown:
1st period:
Early on in the period Chicago was hit with
a penalty and the Avalanche had a chance to get on the board early, however the
Hawks played great and no goal was awarded. Toews opened up the scoring fairly
early in the first scoring a pretty nice goal assisted by Hossa and Saad.
However after a long period with close to 4 mins to go, Bickell landed a
powerplay for hooking against the hawks. The Avalanche was not as laid back for
this one and Stastny capitalized on a powerplay goal against Crawford.
2nd period:
The second period saw Chicago fall apart
giving up 4 goals. Within the first 5 minutes Colorado landed 2 goals within
seconds of each other by Duchene and Mitchell. This wasn’t the first goal
Duchene and Mitchell would be a part of though. Half way through the period
O’Reilly managed a powerplay goal assisted by Duchene. 3 minutes later we would
see Duchene back to assist McGinn with a goal. This was the first time that the
Blackhawks have ever been down so many this season.
3rd period:
Chicago switches out Crawford for Emery.
Team brawl with 5 mins to go started by Bickell. 4 on 4 penalty.
Avalance Parenteau scores with 4 mins left in the game to increase the gap again by 4.
Avalance Parenteau scores with 4 mins left in the game to increase the gap again by 4.
Don’t let this one game deter you from
Chicago though all good things come to an end and Chicago still has a stacked
team with lots of great players.
Patrick Kane – First draft pick 2007
Jonathan Toews – Third draft pick in 2006
Brent Seabrook – 14th overall in
2003
With the playoffs etching closer every day
the Blackhawks will definitely make them. They currently lead the
Western Conference with 45 points, 10 more points than second Anaheim so they are still a strong contender. We’ll
just have to wait to see where it goes.
