Top 10 Most Anticipated Albums of 2013

By – J

Here at Sh*t Guys Like we are huge music enthusiasts. Music is one of those things we can use to channel our energy and relieve stress.  We enjoy all genres of music. Below is our list as the most anticipated albums for 2013:

10 – Bon Jovi – What About Now – March 12, 2013

It’s been almost 4 years since the group lead by Jon Bon Jovi dropped there last album The Circle.  As they age their music has seemly not aged it still has that 80’s feel to it. You can preview some of the tracks and preorder the album on iTunes or Amazon.

9 – Jimi Hendrix – People Hell and Angels – March 5, 2013

He may have been 6 ft in the ground for over 40 years, but some how producers have managed to shell out new music from Jimi Hendrix. This new albums lead track “Somewhere” has that old school rock and roll sound sprinkled with a hint of blues. Makes you really wonder if he’s actually dead.

8 – Tyler, The Creator – Wolf – April 2, 2013

The first time I heard the leader of Odd Future Wolfgang KTA my immediate thought was WTF? But the kid has creepily grew on me as being a unique artist who doesn't pose but does his own shit, unlike some artists today. The psychotic sound and insane lyrics wreek of anarchy covered in shit. Yet somehow I can respect the guy for making the music they want to make without the label pressures.

7 – One Republic – Native – March 26, 2013

One Republic's come a long way since there early beginnings. The first song I actually heard from them was in a song with Timbaland, Apologize. That song was a definite banger back in the day. A few of their songs have stuck out on my iTunes  library, namely Stop and Stare and Secrets. Check out there album on iTunes.

6 – Sound City – Real to Reel – March 12, 2013

The soundtrack for Dave Grohl’s Sound City documentary features an all star cast of appearances from Paul McCartney to Rick Springfield. It’s a rock lover’s dream cast and sure to be a heavy album when it comes out. Check out the first single here.

5 – Dido – Girl Who Got Away – March 26, 2013

Don’t let the “girl” in that title steer you away dudes. Dido is one of the most talented female artists of the age and I’m looking forward to her new album. She’s got a melodic voice that sucks you in like a dark hole and leads you so some place far away. You’ll remember her from popular samples used by Eminem in Stan. The first single dropped from this British bombshells album is Let us Move On (ft. Kendrick Lamar) was released in December and is an insane piece of work (listen below). Amazing beat with deep lyrics from Dido accompanied by Kendrick Lamar as the cherry on top was definitely a strong start to the album. Her lead single, No Freedom is definitely strummed with some deep guitar strings.

Pre- order her album now on iTunes.

4 – Justin Timberlake – The 20/20Experience – March 19, 2013

I didn’t start paying attention to Justin Timberlake till he started his solo career. Sue me for not being at guy who liked N’Sync in my early teens. But after a long hiatus JT is coming back strong and I’m looking forward to what his album has to show. Teaming up with the Jigga man to co-sign his first single Suit & Tie, I definitely have high hopes for this album.

3 – Eminem – NT – TBA

The rumour mill’s been stirring up since 2011 for Slim Shady’s return to the mic. Most recently Paul Rosenberg, Eminem’s manager and partner at Shady Records spoke on an upcoming album Slim's been working on. He’s been busy behind the scenes bring up artists like Yelawolf, SlaughterHouse and most recently executive producing Skylar Greys debut album. But we’re all excited to hear what Dr. Dre’s apprentice has been up to in the studio.

2 – John Legend – Love in the Future – TBA

John Legend is definitely one of the most talented R&B singers of the age. With a voice like no one before him Legend hasn’t put out a solo album since 2008’s Evolver. Although putting out an album with the legendary Root’s crew we all want to hear what Legend’s been working on in the studio with Yeezy. Originally slated for late 2012 the album was pushed to spring due to more time needed for mixing. (I was pissed when the fall tour was cancelled)

And number 1 is….. One Direction. (No not a chance in hell)
